Celebrity Makeup Tutorial: Get Gwen Stefani's Signature Look

Hi I'm Sergio. I'm getting ready to show you how to do a very simple, classic, retro makeup look particularly inspired by Gwen Stefani. It's a classic liquid liner and a strong red mouth. Let's get to it.

Okay for this look we have to keep in mind that the most important things are going to be the lips and the liquid liner. This is what's going to complete this retro makeup look. Let's start with the eyes. I'm using a very neutral ivory, bone-colored eye shadow and I'm dusting it all over the lid. I just want the lid to be really clean and simply, which is going to leave room for the liquid liner and make the eye that much more dramatic. Just for this red carpet look I'm going to dust a little shimmer on the eyelid, it's just going to dress the look a little bit without making any major statement of color. For the liquid liner I actually like to use a black gel liner. I like to use this type of brush with it. It's very thin and very pointy, but it's also a little bit flexible. This brush is already dipped into the gel.

We're going to extend out and up. So you can make this liner as thick as you want to. This is a perfectly acceptable liner, but if you wanted to make it a big edgier, a little bit more dramatic. You can go over it and just make it thicker. Just use the line that's existing as your guideline.

Alright, we're going to do the mascara. Personally, I like to concentrate on the top lashes for this particular makeup look. If you want to do your bottom lashes just do a very quick and light coat. For the top you can go ahead and layer on. Just a couple things to finish off the eye. We're going to use the same shadow we used on the top and I'm going to put it right here on the corner. It's just going to open up the eye. It photographs beautifully and also makes the look more current.

The final step of this look is the strong red lip. I like starting from the corner and working my way out. Notice with my pencil I'm actually using it to fill in the entire lip. We can use a lipstick after which we will. But because the lip pencils have more pigment it's going to actually help keep the color in place for much longer. I'm finishing the look off with a deep red lipstick. Finish the lips with just a quick blot to pick up the excess and you're done.
