Taylor Chang-Babaian, Hair & Makeup Stylist:
Hi, I'm Taylor and I am going to show you how to hide damaged, bad hair using a few quick tips and tricks. Let's get started.
I just loosely sectioned off the top part of the hair, so I can just get the bottom. A great way to hide damaged ends is to throw light curls in there, even just large waves. The way you are going to do that is you are just going to use a large iron. This one is an inch and a half; you could even go two inches. You are just going to gently get to the ends. She has very long hair, and so we are just going to reach the ends. Again, we are taking large sections and doing a vertical curl. I am just kind of squeezing the handle lightly so that I loosen the hair so that I can get to the ends. I am just going to do this all over the head.
For this side of the hair, we are going in toward the center of her head and for the right side we are going in towards the center of her head this way. We'll do that all throughout the hair.
Now, I'm going through with the top section just as I did with the bottom section, again doing vertical curls. I start curling at the top of the hair first and then start squeezing so that I can get the ends in because the ends don't usually need that much time in the iron. They get very curly very quick. This whole process shouldn't take you very long - five minutes tops.
So now we've just finished doing the curls all throughout the hair. What's great about the curls is it detracts away from the ends and you get the focus on the curls. Of course the best thing with damaged hair is some shine. She does have fairly fine hair though, so what we want to do is concentrate the shine on the ends. We are going to use a light spray shine, avoid the root area, and of course just a little bit on the edge. I'm just dusting a little bit on the ends. There you go. A quick way to hide bad hair.

In between regular trims (love the stylists!) I deep condition and pull my hair back. I wouldn't use heat on damaged hair.

The curls would definitely distract from the damaged ends until there is time for a haircut.

I feel like with damaged hair you can see how "dry" the hair looks even if it's curled. My hair for example, won't hold the curls for more than an hour if the ends are bad.

I don't think I could do that by myself in five minutes or less. When my hair starts looking damaged I think I'll just go get it trimmed.

While this may temporarily hide damaged, bad hair, it'll just make it worse because of all the curling? I have split ends, and they really just need a trim!

I personally think curly hair is sexy. Whenever I curl my hair, I always apply heat protect. Thanks for this video!
