Make Your Makeup Last All Day
Makeup tutorial showing how to apply foundation, blush, lip color and eye shadow so it's got true, blow-you-away staying power
Transcript
The biggest threat to your makeup lasting is your skin's natural oils, which break down color and make it fade. So your first step should always be a layer of mattifying lotion -- or at least swipe your face with a toner. These products' oil-prohibiting ingredients like salicylic acid and witch hazel remove excess oils.
To get a base that's thin enough to look natural yet thick enough to last all day, use a foundation make up sponge to "stipple" it on to your skin. Just use a quick dotting motion, tapping it all over the face to deposit and blend your foundation or tinted moisturizer.
For blush that lasts all day, dot the apples of your cheeks with cream blush first, then sweep a matching powder blush over top. This one-two punch works because the cream acts as a base that sticks to the powder.
Here is a trick that turns any lipstick or gloss into a long-wearing product: Use a make up sponge to press translucent powder around your mouth. This prevents skin oils from seeping into your lipstick and making it bleed and fade. Now line your lips with a pencil that matches your natural lip color and apply your color.
To keep eyeshadow from gathering in the creases of your eyes by day's end, dust face powder on your lids and add a second layer of powder along the crease before applying your eyeshadow. This will help absorb the oils on your eyelids and fill in the crease to keep shadow from pooling there.

I will try the cream and then powder blush tip. I have two that would go well together.

Keeping eyeshadow from creasing can be a lot easier than that... just get some eye primer! It's totally worth the $20.

Definitely worth trying these. I don't really like using sponge applicators though because you have to throw them out often. It seems like a waste.
