Lorenzo, Stylist at Warren-Tricomi Los Angeles:
Hi, I'm Lorenzo from Warren-Tricomi Los Angeles and today we are going to demonstrate how to give yourself an emo, edgy, sharp-textured hairstyle.
So to start with this edgy look, you're going to want to first blow-dry the hair with a round brush or a paddle brush. I am just going to do that with the last front section that I have left.
After you have blow dried all the hair and have blow dried this whole top section forward, and down to the side, you can start flat ironing you hair. Take small sections and spray it with a light hold hair spray or a thermal protecting spray. If you have finer hair, you can go ahead and take bigger sections. If you have thicker hair that's a little bit more wavy you might want to take smaller sections. Also, you want to make sure if you have long blunt hair that's one length you might want to go into your salon and see your stylist. Maybe get something a little shorter around your face that's choppier, more edgy.
So, you want to make sure you spray every section of hair before you flight iron it with a light mist of a thermal protector or a light hairspray. Again, always with you, guiding all the way down to the ends. Make sure you seal that cuticle. You are working all this mid top section forward.
So, we finish up flat ironing the hairstyles, so now you are going to take a heavy gloss or pomade. About a dime-sized amount and work it through the ends of the hair to add texture and piecey-ness. You are going to want to keep it on the mid-shaft only on the ends, because this look is going to look good for about two to three days. So it looks better the dirtier it gets. You can go ahead and work that through the bang area.

This is a great cut that my 15 year old daughter has and she is not emo. I think that choice of word might have been a mistake...

I always liked side-swept bangs. Oh, and the model also looks so pretty on it.
