Halloween Makeup: Retro '60s Girl

Hi I'm Gregory Arlt, Director of Makeup Artistry for MAC Cosmetics. I'm here with the lovely Samantha to show you a really great 1960s Halloween makeup look. Think twiggy.

So I've started with a little paler foundation and powder. So to begin I'm actually going to start with a vanilla shadow all over the eye from the lash line all the way to the brow and mix in a little bit of a white shadow as well to really make the eyelid pop. Take the shadow using a very dense brush all from the inner portion of the eye and really pack that color on. In the 60s everything was a little bit pale, a little chalky. So the next step is to apply a dark gray shadow. Right into the crease of the eye but kind of cheat and go above the eyelid cause you want the eye to look really big like they did in the 60s. You want that very sleep, doll-like eye and you're going to take this gray eye shadow and just work it out just beyond the bone. So the next step is to now start to really make the eye look open and doll like using a white pencil. So I'm taking the white pencil and I'm going on the inner corners of the eye into little points. Make sure your pencil is nice and sharp and follow right underneath the lash line. You're also going to add a little bit of white on the inner rims of the eye to take away any pink or redness.

So now I'm taking a black gel eyeliner with a very thin brush and I'm going to outline the white pencil that I've just done with black. Take the liner and you're going to wing it up towards the outer corner of the eye. So now we're going to line the top of the eyes. And what you're going to do is start from the inner corner and don't be afraid to go really thick and dramatic because this is the 60s. Take that gel liner all the way across the top of the eye, going thicker towards the outer corner, and wing it right up following the white line. So after you applied the gel on the outer portion of the eye, take some white pencil and go right in between the two lines to make it really pop.

So you're going to take the mascara and really get into those lashes. Okay now for the fiesta resistance for the eyes. We are going to throw on some lashes and the pair that I've chosen are very wispy. I've used the adhesive that dries black, so it rests perfectly.
