Why I'm Loving this New Mascara Sampler
Posted 11/22/10 at 12:23PM by Rebekah George
If there's a makeup item I can't live without, it's mascara. Just a little flick, and hello bigger, brighter, more awake eyes. When people ask me what my favorite mascara is, I'm stumped. Seriously, that's a toughie. There are so many great ones on the market and they seem to get better every year. That's why I was beyond excited to try the limited edition Sephora Favorites LashStash Mascara Deluxe Sampler, $27. This "It Kit" comes with ten of the most popular mascaras out there like Too Faced Lashlight Mascara, $26, and Makeup Forever Smoky Lash, $22.
If you're a mascara lover like me, this sampler is a great way to try different mascaras and find out which one is right for you without plunking down big bucks before you even know whether you like them! Plus, at $27, it's a no-brainer bargain; if you bought these individually you would've spent over $100.
Once you settle on the one you like best, try my top three tips to help it last longer and look even better!
#1. Never pump the wand into the tube. Pumping forces air down into it, which makes it dry out faster.
#2. Never wipe off excess into the tube. Do this and you'll wind up with clumpy mascara. Instead, rub off any extra onto a tissue.
#3. Clean your wand with a little sulfate-free shampoo about once a week to help prevent clumping.
And, if you're having similar issues committing to makeup shades, this cool Color Finder will help you zone in on the best shades to accentuate your natural beauty.

I agree--throwing away your mascara regularly will keep your lashes clump free (and keep your eyes infection-free). Cleaning the wand every week seems like overkill though--a good mascara with a good wand shouldn't need that much work. There are plenty of mascaras that stay clump free for three months!

I cannot let go mu pumping habit. I know, its terrible but old habits die hard!. I never get all clumpy though.

also, change your mascara at least every 3 months...formulas have a limited shelf-life and will go bad!!
