My Latest Obsession: Headbands
Posted 07/28/11 at 02:50PM by Audrey Fine
This just in: It is hot out there (just ask Al Gore) and I'm tired of wrestling my humidity-infused hair into submission.
Sure, there are ways to combat frizz, and there are a few cute summer styles to try. But I'll be the first to admit that when it's 103 in the shade, I'm too darn lazy and overheated to do even important things (like, say, cook my kids dinner). So it's a safe bet that I'm not raring to futz with the 'do.
Happily, many fashionable Hollywood types (or, more accurately, their stylists) have given all of us sweaty sad sacks an out. How? They've made headbands cool again. All hail the panacea of bad hair days!
This summer, everyone from Kate Middleton to Mila Kunis has dazzled in a headband. And, really, WHY NOT? They look cute on all lengths of hair, can create a mood -- from modern to romantic -- and, even better, suit a purpose.
A headband is a godsend when it comes to smoothing down that omnipresent halo o' frizz that sets in around June 28th and stays through mid-August. And, unlike having to attempt complicated braids or other intricate styles that can make you feel like you have nothing but thumbs, wearing a headband requires zero skill. It's my kind of accessory.
So, my words of wisdom for the remaining two or so months of summer? Get thee a couple of cute headbands and press the pause button on worrying about your coif ... at least until fall's cool temperatures arrive and you're ready to take back up with your blow dryer.
What say you? Do you appreciate goddesses like Anne Hathaway and America's-Next-Top-Model-runner-up-turned- actress Analeigh Tipton, who've helped make wearing a headband glamorous? Or are you not a fan?

The ones pictured looked like a wreath for a fairy costume. Pretty, but a bit much.

i love headbands but you have to have the right one. Some of them look like they're meant to be in a Halloween costume.

It keeps hair out of my face; THATS the reason i wear them...but i'll admit they are cute :D

love headbands I wear them all year round because face it, they're cute and go well with everything, especially if you choose different styles, like feathers, bows, and flowers.
