Makeunder Intervention: Which Celebrities Do You Think Need to Tone It Down? I'm Applauding Kelly Osbourne for Her Recent Redo
Posted 08/24/10 at 06:57PM by Total Beauty
Were you as turned off by Christina Aguilera's recent "Not Myself" video? You know, the one where the 30-year-old mom, channeling Lady Gaga, writhed around in glittery bondage costumes and made out with sundry guys and girls? Now, listen, I've never thought of myself as a prude in the slightest but, to me, that video was 100 percent inappropriate and more than a little tacky.
And, where was this coming from? Hadn't she gone totally natural for the cover of "Marie Claire" earlier this year and received loads o' laudatory press about it? Weren't the raves she got for her glam bob and understated makeup at the Golden Globes enough to keep her on the straight and narrow? (See that look and other incredible celebrity for-the-better transformations here.)
Guess not. For now, the inner hussy seems to have prevailed.
That's not to say that a ton of other celebrities haven't embraced their "makeunders." Kelly Osbourne is one that springs to mind. Gone (for now) are the fuchsia hair, the outrageous cat eye makeup and overly-painted mouth. These days, with her fab new hairstyle and incredibly svelte figure, Ozzy's little girl could be mistaken for a young Catherine Deneuve.
But, not everybody wants to change their look -- no matter how much the rest of us wish they would! In June, Rachael Ray attempted to get those hussies from "Jersey Shore" to cover up and put some real clothes on -- the experiment failed. And, there was a great article in "O" magazine a while ago that saw those done-up "Real Housewives of Orange County" cleaned up and toned down. Of course, they all whined that they didn't "feel like themselves" without stopping to consider that, perhaps, that might just be a good thing.
Which celebrities do you think need to tone it down? Maybe we can launch a campaign.
