The VIP (Very Impressive Product) Pick of the Week #29
Posted 09/30/11 at 05:23AM by Audrey Fine
The Product: COVERGIRL Intense ShadowBlast
The Price: $8.50
The Promise: "Discover rich, waterproof eyeshadow with a built-in primer for color that lasts."
The Real Deal: As part of my fall pledge to make more of an effort in the makeup department, I recently decided to start wearing more eyeshadow. After all, it seems like a quick and easy way to fake like you actually put some time into getting ready. That's how I found myself in the makeup aisle of CVS on a recent toilet paper run . While trying to choose from what felt like hundreds of options, I remembered seeing a Drew Barrymore ad for the ShadowBlast, so I tossed a tube into my basket. (Apparently, I'm an advertiser's dream.)
I just tried the shadow and I'm pleasantly surprised. First, I love the color (Brown Bling). It has a pink-y tint to it that is a perfect shade for my boring brown eyes. Second, I like how it feels. It glides on smoothly (probably because of the built-in primer) and isn't gloppy at all -- something I despise about so many cream eyeshadows. Third, it stays put! This is one shadow that really and truly does not budge. It's still on my eyelids, precisely where I put it, after a long day of work. Win/win/win.
The Upshot: I'm heading back to CVS to pick up a few more shades of ShadowBlast. At $8.50, it's affordable -- and it works great. What's not to like?
And, as a bonus, it fits right in with how I'm wearing fall's makeup trends.
