MAC Cosmetics announced this past Wednesday that they will be teaming up with DC Comics to create a color cosmetics line featuring the illustrated superhero, Wonder Woman. At the age of 69, the veteran super heroine is making a comeback after getting a makeover earlier this year and now coming out with her very own celebrity makeup line. Seems like she's following in the franchise steps of celebridom, no? Mark your territory girl.

The limited edition line will launch spring 2011 and will include lipsticks, eye shadows, blush, and nail polish all featuring the heroine on the packaging and undoubtedly boasting colors true to Wonder Woman's apparel. I predict bright blues, hues of gold and, starlet red lipstick with nails to match. The beauty products will range in price from $13 to $49.50, according to WWD.

However, this won't be the first illustrated celebrity to grace MAC products as come September, MAC stores will be selling a 40-item collection featuring Disney's most celebrated villains including Cruella De Vil of 101 Dalmatians, the Evil Queen from Snow White, Maleficient, the wicked green-faced fairy from Sleeping Beauty, and voodoo master Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog. The colors for this collection are based off of the reproductions of the original Disney drawings of the characters.

Jennifer Balbier, Vice President of MAC's product development said, "Disney gave us the colors used when these characters were drawn throughout their history."

I'm sure we can expect similar synergy efforts with DC Comics.

The new illustrated wardrobe for Wonder Woman includes a blue blazer sprinkled with white stars over a red top paired with skin-tight navy blue jeggings (jean leggings), designed by DC Comics co-publisher Jim Lee. Gone are the bustier and iconic hot pants, but her golden accessories remain with an upgrade.

J. Michael Straczynski, the new writer of the Wonder Woman comic book series, said, "If you’re going to make a statement about bringing Wonder Woman into the 21st century, you need to be bold and you need to make it visual. I wanted to toughen her up, and give her a modern sensibility."

I wonder if the Wonder Woman to be appearing on the MAC line will be the original 40s, skin-revealing version, or the new 21st century boots-wearing diva. MAC has been known to deliver their top-of-the-line makeup products in eye-catching packaging and thus have made it onto our 25 Eye-Catchingly Cute Beauty Products list.

I'm excited for the color scheme of the new Wonder Woman collection, are you?
