I have always been a big fan of clinique’s makeup offerings. Their eyeshadows especially have always been among my very favorites. I also work out every day, and so wanted a product that I did not have to worry about washing off before I began my workout. I applied this product in the morning prior to putting on my makeup, so it would have adequate time to soak into my skin before I went outside of the house. However, when I tried to apply my makeup, I noticed that it kept smearing and appeared to be sliding right off of my skin, even though I allowed several minutes for the product to dry. I found the scent of the product to be pleasant enough—it was not too heavy or perfumed, which I appreciated. Its consistency was fairly light, which I thought was another one of its high points. However, it severely impeded my makeup application, and made my face appear greasy, and I do not ordinarily have oily skin. I work in a professional setting so it is important for me to look polished, and I definitely did not with my face all shiny. Throughout the day, I noticed that the skin and oily feeling persisted, and my face did not feel fresh. Terrible smell
Clinique was one of the first "decent" skin care lines I started trying, but I quickly lost interest in it because the products aren't right for ME. First off, let me tell you what I like. For one, I li...read moreke that it has a blend of chemical sunscreens and physical sunscreens. The chemical sunscreens are going to absorb into the skin and absorb the uv rays before they can damage your skin cells. The physical sunscreens sit on the surface and reflect the uv rays away from your skin. Therefore you have both the surface and subsurface layers of skin. Second, I love how many anti-oxidants are in this. Chemical sunscreens have a bad habit of creating free-radicals that can damage your skin, but those anti-oxidants neutralize them so they become stable. What I don't like about this product is what makes it unbearable and impossible for me to wear. First off, the smell is horrendous. It might likely be me, but this smells awful compared to other sunscreens. It makes me cringe and I can't stand putting on my face. Second, I just don't like the way it feels on my skin. It feels and looks greasy and it just doesn't absorb into the skin like other products. It's not even anything to do with the sunscreens in it. This is just a product that is wrong for me. super protection
This sunscreen goes on so smoothly onto my skin. It seems to really sink in and not make my face greasy at all. I used it today after work before heading out to run errands today over my makeup. High SPF, but not my favorite City Block
Many years ago when I started using makeup, I did not know about a foundation primer. And most of my foundation did not come with SPF. Therefore, when the first City Block (I think it was SPF 15) came out, I worshiped the Clinique City Block line. I used it almost daily as as a under foundation base. Over the years I have upgraded to a higher SPF City Block. My favorite one was a tinted SPF 25 ver...read moresion, which is unfortunately discontinued. For my oily/combo skin, this highest SPF City Block is okay as a sunscreen, but not so effective as a foundation base. My mineral powder foundation do not stay as good as when I use other primers. Best Sunscreen for senstive skin!!!!
This will not irritate sensitive skin because it uses Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide as its active ingredients to get the spf rating. The unique thing about this sunscreen is that those ingredients typically leave a chalky, white cast on tan or dark skins--Clinique brilliantly addresses this by adding a tint to the sunscreen. Great All Around Sunblock
High spf, high percentage of the physical sunblock ingredients, tinted so it blends in with skintone - no white cast, and creamy feel. This works great for reapplying throughout the day. Best facial sunscreen!
This is a great product for everyday use. It is light, slightly tinted, not-greasy with a high SPF. It works well with other products as well. When my skin is dry I'll usually put a moisturizer on first or mix the two together and apply. It is great under makeup and I love how smoothly it goes on. Great sunscreen
Clinique has a great sunscreen here. It works well and has a high SPF. I do not break out while using this sunscreen and I have never gotten burned while using it either. My only issues are the thickness (takes a bit of work to rub in) and the fact that it tends to feel heavy under my makeup at times. Many summers ago, sunblocks could be spotted by the opaque white film, but new technology has created sunblocks with particles so tiny, that the opaque film is no longer noticeable. Chemicals most common in sunblocks include titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. Super City Block Oil-Free Daily Face Protector SPF 40, containing titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, is a high-level daily sun protection in a sheer, weightless formula that is invisible under makeup. Although the product is tinted when first applied, it's quickly absorbed into the skin and becomes invisible. The ingredients are compatible with all skins, even the most sensitive. In addition, it is a sunscreen, offering SPF 40 protection from sun’s UVA/UVB rays. There are not a lot of antioxidants in this product, but for $16, you shouldn't expect much.
