The bright gown trend (Yellow! Sea foam blue! Orange!) at last night's Emmy's meant one thing for the beauty looks: simple and fresh. After all, the key to pulling off a loud dress hue is pairing it with a minimal makeup look. Which is why so many nominees opted for glowing skin and a dash of eyeliner.
That's not to say all celebrities steered clear of color. Berry-stained lips were another big trend on the red carpet. In fact, two stars wearing bold lipsticks topped our favorite beauty picks. Who are they? Keep reading as we run down our favorite hair and makeup looks from the 2012 Emmy Awards.

When it comes to pulling off an elegant red carpet look, Anne Hathaway has a pretty flawless record and last night was no exception. The actress paired her moss-hued Valentino gown with matching olive green eyeshadow. Ever on trend, the star's pixie cut had a deep part and smooth, piece-y texture.
If you want to mirror the stars earthy makeup, we suggest lining your eyes with Sephora Collection Jumbo Liner in Kaki, $12. Smudge the eyeliner along the lid to get a slightly smoky effect. Add a touch of Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadow in Bone, $28, to brighten up the inner corner. Finally, finish with a sweep of Tart Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Achiote, $25, on the apples of your cheeks.

Did you know around 20 people purchase a Beeswax Lip Balm every minute, which adds up to about 30,000 lip balms per day and over 11 million per year?
Crazy, right? Those stats explain why it's the best-selling lip balm in America. Not that you'd really need these numbers to figure that out. I bet a quick purse check among your friends would reveal most are carrying around that small yellow tube.
Perhaps it's the 100 percent natural ingredients of nourishing botanical and tingly peppermint oils. Whatever the reason, the balm has quickly become a cult classic.

If you're in the market for a new signature lip hue, look no further than MAC.
Their newest collection, inspired by the sexiest woman in history, Marilyn Monroe, consists of 30 new products. Of those, five are gorgeous new lipstick shades: Deeply Adored, a matte scarlet; Love Goddess, a satiny pinkish-red; Pure Zen, a shimmery nude; Charmed I'm Sure, a deep matte red; and Scarlet Ibis, a bright orange-red.
And even if you aren't in the market for a new lipstick, the packaging, which displays the starlet herself, is just too pretty to pass up.
The Old Hollywood-inspired collection hits stores next Friday, September 27.
