The bright gown trend (Yellow! Sea foam blue! Orange!) at last night's Emmy's meant one thing for the beauty looks: simple and fresh. After all, the key to pulling off a loud dress hue is pairing it with a minimal makeup look. Which is why so many nominees opted for glowing skin and a dash of eyeliner.
That's not to say all celebrities steered clear of color. Berry-stained lips were another big trend on the red carpet. In fact, two stars wearing bold lipsticks topped our favorite beauty picks. Who are they? Keep reading as we run down our favorite hair and makeup looks from the 2012 Emmy Awards.
Ginnifer Goodwin
The "Once Upon A Time" actress displayed a thick retro cat eye (using mark Keep It Going Longwear Eyeliner & Shadow in Entourage, $11), which complimented her dark hair. Her luminous complexion and neutral lip color allowed her eye-popping Monique Lhuillier dress to be the focus.
Kat Dennings
The "Two Broke Girls" star flaunted a surprising bombshell look. She wore Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Icon, $28, which perfectly matched her J. Mendel gown and let her hair hang in loose, volumous ringlets.
Jessica Pare
The "Mad Men" actress stayed with her show's retro style. Her classic look featured a bright red statement lip (Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Coromandel, $34), a subtle cat eye, and a soft updo -- three vintage effects that come straight out of the '60s.

I don't like Goodwin's look, she needs a darker color for the lips.
