If you've ever called to book a hair appointment only to be put on hold indefinitely, you probably found yourself wondering why there isn't an easier way. Restaurant reservations have Opentable.com -- hair salons should have something similar, right? Fortunately, it exists! Last May, StyleSeat.com launched, and it's been growing ever since. There are currently 40,000 stylists and other beauty professionals in the system -- and it's about to get a whole lot bigger.
The company recently received a huge amount of funding from Ashton Kutcher and Guy Oseary's A-Grade Founders Fund, a company that helps fuel startups. StyleSeat CEO Melody McCloskey says we can expect a lot more from her company in the coming months. Not only do they make it easier for you to schedule a haircut, they… Read More »

I'm pretty obsessed with Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips, $8.99. Since they don't smell like nail polish, you can slap them on pretty much anywhere (sitting at your desk, on the train), they're instantly dry, and they last just as long (or longer!) than a regular manicure. Every time a new collection comes out, I choose my favorite and put them on immediately. Well, there are new designs to get excited about, and they were created by singer Avril Lavigne. If you're into classic punk prints, you're going to love these.
From cool plaids to polka dots and pink skulls, she really nailed (pun intended) these looks. Surprisingly, her dream design wasn't one of these iconic prints, but the bright green, glitter version. "When we started, I was on tour and had green in… Read More »

Anna Faris is as adorable and hysterical in person as she is in her movies. If you want to get a glimpse of the real Anna, you have to check out her new campaign with Jergens called the Places You Glow. In affiliation with Jergens Natural Glow and Protect Daily Moisturizer with SPF 20, $8.99, she's sharing snapshots of her travels, work and favorite activities on Jergens.com -- all while wearing her the daily glow moisturizer, of course. Plus, you can upload your own photos, and for each one Jergens will donate two dollars to The Skin Cancer Foundation. We caught up with the actress to talk about all the things that make her glow:
1. She piles on the Jergens. "I was never very good at self-tanner," says Faris. "I was too lazy to exfoliate and I'd end up with orange patches and… See more »

What with "The Hunger Games" nail polishes making the rounds right now, it's a pleasant surprise to see Tim Burton's upcoming "Dark Shadows" getting in on the movie-turned-lacquer action too. Along with the film's May release, a limited-edition collection by Orly will be available at orlybeauty.com, Sally Beauty, and Ulta.
Based on the cult classic television series, "Dark Shadows" follows a vampire played by -- you guessed it -- Johnny Depp. The four-color collection plays off the movie and includes: Mysterious Curse (Purple Duochrome Shimmer), Buried Alive (Rich Brown Shimmer), Grave Mistake (Deep Red Creme), and Decades of Dysfunction (Pale Pink Creme).
From April 1st through May 12th, fans can also try to win a private screening of the film for up to 50 guests via the Orly… See more »
