Makeup

I was invited to check out a screening of "Rock of Ages" last night (the movie opens Friday), and while the '80s music and Tom Cruise's leather pants were captivating, I was mostly watching for the hair and makeup. The highlights included Julianne Hough's super-blonde Farrah Fawcett waves and Malin Akerman's wild perm. And while there wasn't as much blue eyeshadow as I'd hoped (maybe the makeup artists decided it was just too unflattering), there was plenty of frosted pink lipstick to go around.
If you're planning to see the movie this weekend, you can get in the rock n' roll spirit with a manicure -- and I'm not talking about hot-pink press-ons or French tips, which would rank right up there with the blue shadow. There's a special line of Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips, $9.99, to celebrate the film.
There's a leopard print and even an acid-washed denim look, but my favorite design is called "Fingerlace Gloves" -- a pretty lace that's slightly reminiscent of the '80s but also cool enough to wear for a week after you leave the theater.

Not sure about an 80s manicure, not matter how well done.
