Maybe I've been looking at too many chic Fashion Week photos lately -- it seems like the cutesy overload of polka dot and holiday-themed nail art just isn't cutting it anymore. But let's be honest: Ditching nail art and running back to plain ol' solid shades is out of the question. The answer? The V-shaped manicure, aka the half-moon manicure's edgier, cooler cousin.
Actress Lake Bell was spotted wearing the look at Sundance earlier this year, and country music star Miranda Lambert flaunted the angular mani at the Grammys. Celebrity manicurist Jin Soon Choi went so far as to dub V-shaped nail art as her spring nail signature -- the final stamp of approval on the trend.
Why all the fuss over a fancy half-moon? Well, changing up the width and length of the V allows for a variety of looks, and the sharp edges instantly add more drama to your nails. The geometric shape also visually lengthens and elongates the appearance of shorter nails. Consider this the manicure equivalent of wearing slimming, vertical stripes.
Would you try the V Shaped manicure?

I can see how this manicure style is meant to elongate short nails, but it is too edgy, too unnatural, too harsh. I don't like it.
