Look, when you're in a time crunch, there are plenty of things in life that are totally acceptable to speed through. Heating up a microwave meal? Sure. Haphazardly tossing on a wrinkly blouse so you're not late to work? Fine.
But when it comes to pubic hair grooming, that's one task you never want to rush through.
Everyone remembers that old, ancient adage: When shaving your pubic hair, take care. Never heard of that one? Well, just because you haven't seen it embroidered on a pillow, doesn't mean they're not wise words to live by.
Statistics show that there has been a five-fold increase in reported pubic hair injuries from 2002 to 2010, according to University of California San Diego researchers. And it's pretty much an even gender split; 56.7 percent of the butterfingers were women, 43.3 percent were men.
Disposable razors were responsible for 83 percent of the injuries, followed by scissors at 22 percent, and hot wax in third at 1.4 percent. So why such a dramatic rise in numbers? Is there some Gillette razor shortage and we're all suddenly using switchblades?
Researchers say that we aren't getting worse at shaving our pubic hair, there are just more of us doing it. "Changing beauty ideals are reflected in media sources … and have likely contributed to the expansion of this cultural trend," say the researchers.
So please, take a lesson from the 11,704 poor souls who wound up in the E.R. for a pubic hair grooming session gone horribly awry. The next time you pick up a razor or a piping hot tub of wax, remember that old adage and take care.

People need to remember that's a sensitive area and take their time!! Being slow and careful is more than worth saving an embarrassing and expensive trip to the hospital!

That is very scary. I cringed at the thought of injuring down there.

oh my god! :)) Why would people use disposable razors? They actually end up being more expensive (even if you don't injure yourself and spend thousands on medical care))), cause they don't do the job as well, and get dull so fast.
