The Cobalt Craze: 6 Products We LoveWe first spotted it on the fall runways, and then it took over Sephora's shelves: Cobalt blue eye makeup is everywhere. These are the products that are helping us pull off the trend |
Certain shades of blue make my skin crawl. I find powder blue to be especially offensive, and teal blue is a close second. What can I say? Some reactions are visceral. (And my frightening, blue eye makeup-wearing third-grade teacher might have something to do with it.)
But then there's cobalt -- a color so beautiful, it's magnetic. Standing in front of a wall of paint chips at Home Depot, my eyes will gravitate towards this shade every time. Cerulean, azure, lazuline -- whatever you want to call it, I think it's perfection.
Skip ahead to see our favorite cobalt blue makeup.
So when I spotted it on the fall 2012 runways -- first in the form of liquid liner at Anna Sui, then as bold blue lashes at Stella McCartney -- it made me giddy. Soon, makeup artists and aficionados everywhere were proclaiming it a trend, and shortly after that, cobalt blue eye makeup started popping up everywhere.
It may not be the easiest trend to pull off (repeat after me: a little goes a long way), but it's so pretty that it's worth a shot. Here are the products you need.

The blue mascara in the first picture was slightly frightening. I dont know for sure but I think I will stick with black. Love the nail polish though!

The blue eyelashes are outlandish, but just tipping lashes with a great cobalt mascara or using a fine liner in the same shade are beautiful. With this hue, a little goes a long way. I love the nail polish shade, but I'd get a similar China Glaze color at Amazon for less than a dollar (not counting shipping and handling).

I am obsessed with cobalt right now, but more so in my wardrobe than in my makeup case. Those Urban Decay false lashes are WILD and I may need to own the YSL nail polish from the last slide. What a gorgeous color!

Love the blue mascara and the nail polish. I'm still not sure about the green though...

I am not a fan of blue eyeshadows, mascara or liners...it reminds me of Mimi on the Drew Carey show.
