7 New Year's Resolutions Worth Making |
Resolution No. 2: Wear sunscreen every day I know, I know -- I shouldn't be cutting corners on this one. New York City-based dermatologist Ranella Hirsh, MD, reminds me that it's important to wear sunscreen every day -- even in the winter. UV damage can lead to brown spots, more wrinkles, and all sorts of not-so-pretty stuff in addition to the big C.
The American Academy of Dermatology recommends applying a broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen of at least SPF 30 every two hours year-round on any exposed skin. (Try Clarins UV Plus Day Screen SPF 40, $40.) At the very least, cover your face, chest, hands and forearms at least 30 minutes before heading out the door.

These are actual resolutions that a person can stick to. I do most of these already, but I'm sure I can be more diligent about the rest of them (I was resting my hand in my palm as I was reading and removed it as soon as I saw the slide about not touching your face). I have a Clarisonic Mia and I use it once a day. I've had it for a little over a year now and you would not believe how much my skin has improved. Its not perfect but there has definitely been an improvement. :)

I don't pick at my zits and I still have horrible acne scars. There are brown and red spots where all of the pimples used to be and Retin A and antibiotics aren't helping.

I'm definitely trying to moisturize more regularly! It seems like I just cleaned out my makeup case not long ago, but it already feels cluttered again. I need to include "clean makeup brushes regularly" on my beauty resolutions list!
