Flowers make me sad. Well, they may me happy for a day or two, and then they make me sad. The water starts to stink (no matter how often you change it), the petals droop and fall, and you hold onto your formerly-beautiful arrangement for a few days too long -- just because you can't bare to toss it. Flowers are fleeting -- that's a reality. And roses are the worst offenders.

Makeup, on the other hand, can last. You can wear your favorite lipstick every day for six months before you need to buy a new one.
