7 Genius Ways to Nix Hair Shrinkage for GoodWork the kinks out of your naturally curly hair with these fool-proof tips |
Banding What it is: Banding is the process of using elastic bands to gently stretch out natural hair when it's wet, explains Hollis from the blog Hollistics. To prevent damage, opt for ouchless elastics without the metal hardware to prevent snagging pieces of your hair.
How it works: While your hair is still wet, divide it into several sections. The more sections you create, the more stretched out and longer your hair can appear. Secure each section with an elastic, then wrap multiple elastics down the length of each section as you go. As the hair dries with these bands, it'll appear longer and less curly once they are taken out.
