The Gel Manicure That Comes Off in 5 Minutes I don't do gels because I can't handle the removal process. You sit with your fingers wrapped in acetone for 10-plus minutes (or worse, you soak your tips, drying out your fingers), and then you still have to scrape and scrub to get that stubborn polish off. That's why CND developed the Shellac Xpress Top Coat Manicure -- because too many women (like me) found the gel removal process hellish.

And it's not just about the removal: The polish isn't as thick (and fake looking, IMO) as other gel formulas, and it's even shinier. Even though I didn't have a chip after eight days of wearing it, I was ready to see if the removal claims were true. I wrapped my nails, started the timer and -- after a mere five minutes -- each nail came off completely clean. Shellac Xpress may turn me into a gel wearer after all.
