To achieve this braid at home, Lin recommends separating the hair into three sections. Your middle section is the smallest and the stationary strand. To form your braid, take a little piece from the outside of the left section, then cross it over. Next, cross that same section underneath the middle section and then add it to the right. To finish your DNA braid, take a piece from the outside of the right section of hair, bring it over the middle section and then add it to the left. These movements are repeated over and over until you complete your braid.
Hairstylist Rheanne White says DNA braids are suitable for both newbie and master braiders, but you'll definitely need some practice first. She suggests starting with a simple fishtail and by watching YouTube videos for a helpful visual.
