Look of the Day: Queen Latifah's Sexy, Slicked Back Style There's a reason Queen is in her name, as last night Queen Latifah looked like pure royalty at the 2017 BET Awards with her long, sleek strands and curve-hugging black gown. To get her show-stopping look, Latifah teamed up with Unilever celebrity hairstylist, Ursula Stephen, who says pulling back one side of her hair adds just the right amount of attitude to the gown.
The key to this look? Starting with clean hair. Stephen used Dove Intensive Repair Shampoo, $3.49, and Dove Intensive Repair Conditioner, $3.49, in order to protect the queen's hair from any heat damage. Once finished shampooing, Stephen applied the Suave Professionals Avocado + Olive Oil Leave-In Conditioner, $3.99, before blow-drying hair (starting at the roots), to keep hair extra smooth.
Once Latifah's hair was dry, she divided her strands into small sections and began to flat iron it. Once finished, Stephen's spritzed Suave Professionals Luxe Style Infusion Anti-Humidity Hairspray, $3.99, generously throughout her hair to prevent frizz and flyaways. To get the signature look, she parted Latifah's hair down the side and combed back the hair on the side, securing with en elastic and bobby pin. To really clean up the look, Stephen finished by going over the free hair again with a flat iron and pulled some pieces forward to further frame her face.
