The Mermaid Lash Trend Anybody who knows me or follows me on Instagram knows that I'm pretty much a mermaid IRL — or at least I like to think so. With nothing short of an obsession with the water, the beach, long hair and all the pretty mermaid colors and holographic shades, it's no wonder that I was majorly heart-eyed when I heard about New York City's latest beauty craze: mermaid lashes.

Where many beauty trends tack "mermaid" and "unicorn" onto the name simply to be more search-friendly, mermaid lashes truly look like something fresh off the face of a sea siren. The brainchild of Clementina Richardson, founder of Envious Lashes, mermaid lashes feature a dense mixture of universally flattering, cool-colored, rainbow silk lashes — there's really nothing like it. And with Mary J Blige, Naomi Campbell and Kate Capshaw entrusting Richardson with their smizes, you best believe I wanted to, too.

So, beauty junkie that I am, I booked an appointment and eagerly anticipated my sure-to-be newest beauty addiction.
