Mistake No. 3: Not removing the backing paper Um, "backing paper?" Yes, some sheet mask have a thin layer of paper over them as part of the packaging. You have to peel them off before putting the mask on your face because a) it's not meant to go on your skin and b) it prevents the serum from fully transferring to your skin.

It's a funny mistake but it's not uncommon — especially since some masks have backing paper on both sides. So be sure to double check the sheet mask you're using!
