"You don't want to use a beach waver," he cautions. "You want to wrap and twist the hair around something and the wand is the best tool since most people don't have the patience to do a perfect wave wrap and twist set with rollers." If you want more of a beachy wave, braid hair before bed and sleep in the style. Wake up and unravel your plaits for a wavy hair day. If you have hair that needs a little help with hold, Fugate recommends thickening gels and mousses (Shu Uemura Ample Angora Volumizing Mousse, $37.99, works well) pre-blow dry.
