As if contributing to British Vogue, spinning records at the world's hottest clubs, hosting a nightly TV show, writing a book, acting and modeling weren't enough, media darling Alexa Chung has managed to eke out a few more bits of bandwidth to team up with indie cosmetics company Eyeko.
How can the girl whom Anna Wintour calls "a phenomenon" and Karl Lagerfeld lauds as "beautiful and clever ... a modern girl," possibly swing it all? "If something excites me or I'm inspired by something, loads of ideas fall out of my head," the 29-year old Brit told
WWD in a recent interview. Clearly, Chung gets excited by cosmetics because when she met Eyeko's founders, Max and Nina Leykind, "my head was loosened up and I came up with at least 50 things."

So, what exactly are Chung's duties with this collaboration? "It's a creative relationship," she explains. "I send images and different inspirations [along] and we go from there." Nina Leykind is happy with the relationship and says that in Chung, they've found a kindred spirit. "I don't think it would work if we weren't on the same wavelength," she says and her husband concurs. "She's an eye freak like us. She's as obsessed as we are."
No understatement there. Chung says that "Liquid liner is my savior. Other people like other things to feel like they look normal, but for me, I'm pretty much naked without my eyeliner on. It's my comfort blanket."
Thus far, the partnership has yielded a $45 eye kit that carries Chung's name -- and art (did we mention that she's
also a painter?) and, not surprisingly, includes black eyeliner and mascara -- both waterproof. The set will be available at Sephora (and sundry other retailers) in November. Or, you can buy it online
