What Is It?
Black and White Bleaching Cream, $10, is a skin lightening product that is typically used on the face, but can also be used on hands, arms and other parts of the body. It's used to fade acne scars, hyper-pigmentation, age spots, freckles and other types of skin discoloration. It also improves skin tone and brightness.

How Does It Work?
Its active ingredient, 2% Hydroquinone, works by decreasing your skin's production of melanin. It does this by inhibiting tyrosinase, the enzyme needed for melanin production. That means lighter skin, especially in those areas plagued by discoloration.

How to Use It
Before you apply to a large area of skin, test for skin sensitivity by applying to a small patch. If you don't have a reaction within 24 hours, you're good to go. Black and White Bleaching Cream should be your first step before anything else, including sunscreen, makeup and moisturizer. Make sure your skin is clean and dry, then apply a thin layer of the cream to the areas you want to lighten.

It will lighten normal skin too, so be sure to keep it contained to the hyper-pigmented areas. It's fine to use it on your face, just be sure to keep it away from your eyes, mouth and nose. Make sure to wash your hands afterward - you don't want that getting anywhere else!

Is It Safe?
You may have heard some of the debates about hydroquinone and its safety, but the conclusion is that it's safe - with some precautions.

First, you should never apply Black and White Bleaching Cream with peroxides or resorcinol. If you do, it can cause temporary skin staining and darkening. The active ingredient, hydroquinone, can also cause eye pigmentation and corneal damage, but only if you get it in your eyes.

This cream can weaken your skin's natural defense against the sun, causing damage and potentially more hyper-pigmentation - just the very thing you're trying to fix! Be sure to wear sunscreen with at least 30SPF if you don't already. One last caution: if you have acne-prone skin, this cream could cause breakouts.

Results
Good things come to those who wait, and skin care is no different. It usually takes 2-3 weeks to see results. You can expect to see a gradual lightening and reducing of spots and discolorations. Some lucky ladies see an instant brightening effect, though.

Reviews
When it comes to reviews, it's kind of a mixed bag. Some people say it did nothing for their skin, but most people see at least some improvement. There are also many who rave about Black and White Bleaching Cream, saying that with consistency and patience, they saw radical improvement in their skin.
