Young job seekers in China are willing to do almost anything to get a leg up on the fierce competition -- including going under the knife.

For anywhere from $6,000-$10,000 wannabe workers can adopt a more "Western" look by having skin taken from their forehead to enlarge the nose which is then sculpted into "gentle, sloping lines" that mimic the Eiffel Tower.

"We are influenced by the beauty of Eiffel Tower, we are not content to just add something to the nose, we reconstruct it," Surgeon Wang Xuming, who performs dozens of the procedure each month, told wire service AFP.

While this may sound more than a tad drastic, the boom of college graduates (7 million matriculated in 2013), coupled with the country's slowing economy is forcing folks to get creative. And, because the Chinese believe that looking a certain way will help them land a job, they've seen a 40 percent increase in plastic surgeries in recent years.

In fact, ads for the Eiffel Tower procedure are commonplace. "Some students face a lot of employment pressure after graduation," explains Xuming. "If their facial features are good, they'll have more chance of finding a job."
