Soothing Mint
Natural mint is soothing and full of antibacterial compounds. Make this cystic acne home remedy by crushing three to five mint leaves with a mortar and pestle. Apply it to affected areas on your cleansed and dried face, and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse well and repeat every other day for the best results.
Mango Glow
Applying mango pulp as a cystic acne home remedy unclogs pores, softens skin, and leaves you with a beautiful glow. Cut a fresh mango into cubes -- skin and all -- and puree it in a blender or food processor. Apply it to any areas affected by acne, leave on for five minutes, and rinse well with water. You can use this treatment daily; simply store any leftover puree in the fridge.
Calming Honey and Cinnamon
For relief from the discomfort of cystic acne, mix 3 teaspoons of raw honey with 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Apply it to acne spots, allow to sit for 15 minutes, and then rinse well with lukewarm water.
Turmeric Paste
Turmeric has astringent, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory benefits that reduce the appearance and discomfort of cystic acne. Mix 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder with 1/2 teaspoon of water to create a paste. Apply to your face, allow it to sit for 45 minutes to an hour, and rinse well. This treatment can be used daily. Just be careful of staining.
Egg White Mask
The albumin and lysozyme in egg whites combat bacteria and tighten pores, making this DIY treatment ideal for those with oily skin and cystic acne. Separate the white from an egg and apply it to your face with a makeup brush. Leave on for 8 to 10 minutes and rinse off well with water.
Tea Tree Treatment
Tea tree oil disinfects, unclogs pores, and dries out acne. It's also antibacterial. After cleansing your face and patting it dry, put one drop of tea tree oil onto a cotton swab and gently apply it to any acne spots. Dilute the tea tree oil with three drops of water if you have sensitive skin.
Baking Soda and Epsom Salt
For a cystic acne home remedy that will clear your pores and provide gentle exfoliation, mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 tablespoon each of Epsom salt and water. Mix into a paste and apply onto acne spots. Leave until dry, and then rinse off with warm water. Repeat every other day.
Neem Oil
Neem has detoxifying, antiseptic, and antimicrobial properties. Apply neem oil to acne spots with a cotton ball or swab every morning and night.
Balancing Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is a cystic acne home remedy that will balance and soothe your skin. Dip a clean cotton swab into the vinegar, apply to clean and dry skin, and leave overnight. Repeat nightly for quick results.
