It's safe to say that 18-year-old Kylie Jenner is taking the cosmetics industry by storm. Rumor has it her Kylie Lip Kit, which was released Monday, sold out in under a minute. Cue the hysterical fans.
But screaming fans are nothing new for the "Keeping Up With Kardashians" star -- except she -- and her four successful sisters -- are usually dodging them. Now, Jenner is beginning to break away from her reality TV image and embrace her own passions. And makeup -- lipstick in particular -- is clearly one of them.
When we caught up with Jenner at the Lip Kit launch, she seemed sweet and down to earth. According to Jenner she's happy she's leaving "her own mark" on the beauty world, and has created something that is 100 percent her own. Its immediate success is anything but surprising. With almost 44 million Instagram followers (!), it appears King Kylie -- and her famous pout -- is quickly becoming the beauty icon of the social media generation.
1) TotalBeauty: If you could give anyone a makeover who would it be and why?
Kylie Jenner: I don't think I'd want to give a makeover, but I would
love to do all my sisters' makeup. I love doing makeup, and I haven't done theirs yet. I would love to be able to do what I do for myself, on them.
2) TB: Who is your lip-spiration?
KJ: I love Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's lips.
3) TB: How is your beauty look different from your sisters?
KJ: Oh we're all different. For instance, Kim doesn't really wear fake lashes, and she likes to do more of a "naturally clean" look. Khloe, on the other hand, loves experimenting with her look and makeup. And Kendall and Kourtney are super natural.
4) TB: What beauty skill would you steal from your sisters and why?
KJ: Probably Kim's dedication to her beauty regime. She's dedicated and committed to
everything she does. For example, every time she gets a spray tan she has to get a scrub beforehand that's all the way in downtown L.A. And that commitment alone [fighting traffic] is too much for me, but I would love to be like that.
5) TB: What is your biggest beauty pet peeve?
KJ: I'm not into really clumped eyelashes or way too heavy contour. Like if you can see the lines -- not good.
