It's no doubt that along with the new year, we can expect to see a wide array of new and popular hair colors and styles. From the wild styles that celebrities rock on the red carpet to the more subtle effects you can wear to work, you can find a new look perfect for you. Whether it's eclipting, balayage, or ecaille, 2017 has some cool colors in store.
Eclipting
Think of eclipting as contouring for your hair. With this technique, the hair around your face is dyed a color that is darker than the rest, which ultimately makes your cheeks look slimmer. This technique was popularized by Aveda and given the name "eclipting", but variations of this contouring style are now being practiced in salons all over the world. In order for this technique to work, you'll need an experienced stylist. When done correctly, this technique can dramatically change the appearance of your face.

Tiger Eye Bronde
According to Matrix celebrity hairstylist George Papanikolas, one of the hottest hair colors for 2017 will be tiger eye -- a bronde color that incorporates honey, amber and soft brown highlights, painted on with the balayage technique. The popular hair color started flooding Instagram in late 2016, and can be seen on celebrities like Hannah Davis Jeter, Jessica Alba and Jennifer Lopez. What's great about this warm caramel color for brunettes? It grows out seamlessly, so you don't have to worry about roots.

Ecaille
If you want to try a new, cool dye technique, the ecaille appearance is definitely going to be one of the popular hair colors for 2017. Also known as the tortoiseshell look, this freehand method is similar to balayage; the only difference is that instead of using the lightener, hair stylists instead freehand a blend of color into the hair. You won't want to combine the ombré look with ecaille or balayage as they each have their own effects on the hair. If you want something that is low maintenance, this look is the way to go. You'll only need a touch up every few months.

Pastel
Pastel hair colors, like peach, lavender, baby blonde and soft rainbow colors continue to be popular hair colors for those looking to fit outside the box. These colors give you a soft, cute look with just a hint of whimsy. They're also extremely versatile. For instance, pastels can be combined with complementary highlights to create a wide range of stunning looks. Brunettes who don't want to bleach their hair first should look to another popular hair color, chocolate mauve, which incorporates lavender highlights into a chocolate base.

Jewel Tones
As popular as light colors are shaping up to be, dark colors are making their way into the spotlight too. A dark midnight blue or a dark teal gives off a cool bad-girl vibe. Dark colors also look flattering on most skin tones, so anyone can rock this look.
