Want to Know How Many Wrinkles You Have? There's an App For That

Thanks, technology
Not exactly sure just how many fine lines and wrinkles you currently have? Well, now there's an app for that.

The My Own App uses facial-recognition technology to track 50 points on a photo of your face, and provide a clinical evaluation of the major signs of aging. In case you're overlooking a few of these "major signs of aging" when you're squinting in the mirror, the app has your back by assessing the number of fine lines, deep-set wrinkles, percentage of pigment and number of age spots. Then, it goes a step further to compare these numbers to others in your age group, so you know how you stack up.

To sprinkle a little more salt in the wound, after revealing your "Crows Feet Count," this app also generates a side-by-side comparison of the photo you submitted and a photo of what you could look like following treatment. Harsh. But before you start feeling completely downtrodden about your "Deep Line Count," this app seems to have some good intentions.

Based on your individual analysis and skin type, the app gives you ways to fight skin damage and aging through nutrition, beauty and lifestyle tips (i.e., sleeping on silk pillowcases to stall wrinkles, eating potassium rich foods to decrease pigmentation). Add in the app's aging tracking tool, and together you and your smartphone can progress to looking more like that flawless, post-treatment pic.

So, maybe this app is more a serving of tough love than an "I told you so" for skimping on the sunscreen. Either way, pass the eye cream, please.

What do you think? Will you download the My Own App?
