To get movie star waves like Graham's, start by applying a setting lotion like Kusco-Murphy Setting Lotion, $19.95 to damp hair. Next, blow dry hair straight to create volume and once hair is dry, use a roller set to curl hair for voluminous waves. Once rollers have cooled, remove and brush out curls with a boar bristle brush to soften them while creating a deep side part. Finish by misting with shine enhancing strong-hold spray like John Frieda Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Firm-Hold Hairspray, $5.99, says Pohl.

Short wavy bobs are everywhere and to achieve it Pohl says to create pin curls. To do so, work with one-inch sections of hair at a time. Spray them with a non-sticky hairspray and wrapping them around a small-barreled curling iron. Instead of letting the curl hang loose, coil it around a finger and bobby pin the curl to your scalp. Continue until all of your hair is pinned into curls. Let set until hair is completely cool then remove the pins and use a boar bristle brush to comb through the curls. Brush, brush, brush until the curls become soft waves. Finish by misting hair with a shine spray like Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray, $25.

To get loose waves, apply a setting lotion and blow dry hair straight. Lightly mist small sections of hair with hairspray like Kerastase Double Force Multi-Protective Hairspray, $36 before wrapping around a one-and-a-quarter-inch iron. Next, put a bit of texturizer like LOral Professional Texture Expert Lumi Controle, $22.99 into your hands and rake through your curls with your fingers to add definition.

For a thick, on-trend side braid, start by applying a small amount of hair wax like Aveda Light Elements Defining Whip, $24 to palms and rub hands together to emulsify. Work the product evenly through dry hair with fingertips. Use a comb to tease the bottom half of your hair to create the gritty texture and volume then pull hair to one side and begin braiding. Secure with an elastic and then use your hands to loosen up the braid for that messy-in-a-good way look, says Pohl.

Brandy
For extremely tousled waves like Brandy's, Pohl says to start by applying a strong-hold gel like Davines Defining Shaping Gel, $17.99 to hair. Create a half-up pompadour at your crown and secure with bobby pins. With the rest of your hair, wrap small sections of hair around a one-inch curling iron until your entire head is loosely curled. Brush curls out and tease underneath for volume and to add that roughed up texture.
