What we would give to have our 20-year-old skin back (well, minus the acne). Since that's pretty much impossible -- and sitting around waiting for wrinkles to develop or dropping a ton of cash on regular dermatologist visits isn't an option either -- it's time for a new plan. One that includes these expert recommended anti-aging strategies. Follow these tips to keep wrinkles at a minimum and help reverse some of the damage you already see.

Tip 1: Start your day with sunscreen and antioxidants
You likely already know that UV rays from the sun cause premature aging and even worse, skin cancer. That's why we have to (once again) reiterate that it's so important to wear sunscreen daily -- one that offers broad-spectrum protection like AVEENO® Continuous Protection Sunblock Lotion for the Face, $9.99, and has active ingredients like zinc oxide, titanium oxide, mexoryl, or avobenzone. If you plan to be indoors most of the day, "SPF 15 may be sufficient," says Dr. Heidi Waldorf, Director of Laser and Cosmetic Dermatology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in NYC. But, "if you plan to be outdoors, sweating or swimming, use an SPF 30 or above." Along with sun protection, Waldorf also recommends applying a product containing antioxidants before your SPF to combat skin-damaging free radicals. Why? Because antioxidants prevent aging just like sunscreen, and "they act synergistically," she says. Try: Jan Marini Skin Research Antioxidant Daily Face Protectant, $48.

Tip 2: Don't smoke
If you smoke, even occasionally, now's the time to quit. Not only is smoking obviously bad for your health, it causes your skin to prematurely age. It does this by reducing blood flow to your skin, depriving it of oxygen and of vital nutrients like Vitamin A and Vitamin C. It's also been shown to slow your skin's ability to produce collagen and elastin, and cause skin sensitivity and dehydration. If those aren't reasons enough to quit, think of all the expression lines you'll get around your mouth from just sucking on that ciggy -- ouch!

 Tip 3: Exfoliate regularly
As you age, your skin's ability to regenerate itself slows down. To speed it back up, you need to exfoliate. While a physical scrub is a common go-to product for sloughing skin, it might not be the best route for everyone because it can be harsh and irritating. Instead, try a chemical exfoliator like Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel, $78, which contains ingredients like glycolic acid that remove the outer most layer of skin without abrasive scrubbing particles.

Tip 4: Get hip to advances in anti-aging technology
One benefit of getting older these days, is that with so many advances in technology, there are plenty of ways to combat signs of aging. The key is knowing what's available. For instance, a new product called AVEENO® AGELESS VITALITY™ Elasticity Recharging System - Day SPF 30, $39.99 combines a naturally charged biomineral concentrate with a rejuvenating moisturizer (made with blackberry leaf extract and dill) to recharge elastin-deficient skin. It's also available in a night time system and for your eyes. In just 4 weeks, 100 percent of women showed improved skin vitality with firmer, smoother skin texture, fewer lines or wrinkles or diminished age spots.
