Subtle Plait
On hot summer days, simplicity is key. To create the ultra chic hairstyle:

1. Start with day-old hair. Spray some texture spray into strands to give it more grip. We love the Prive Finishing Texture Spray, $30. Make a low pony, securing with a small elastic. Gently tug at hair at the top of your head for the more playful look.
2. Take the pony, and braid hair twice -- creating a very short braid. Secure the abrupt braid with a small elastic.
3. Spritz the hairstyle with a shine spray and rock that understated 'do.

Magnificent Messy Bun
You know those really hot summer days when it's hard to care what your hair looks like (but you still do)? Well this lazy look might be supersimple but it's still sexy AF. Here's how to steal the style:

1. Assuming you have day-old hair, spritz a bit of dry shampoo at the roots and put your hair into a high ponytail.
2. Taking small bristle brush, gently back comb your ponytail for a more ratty texture at the base of the pony.
3. Take the ponytail and wrap it around your hand at the top of your head. Once wrapped all the way around, push the right side of the makeshift bun down at the top of your head, and secure it with a couple bobby pins.
4.Grab the other side of the bun and pull hair towards the gap of the bun, covering it and securing strands with bobby pins.
5. For a sexy tousled look, gently tug at strands in the bun and create a more messy texture.
6. Spritz that hairspray and jaunt about the town lady.

Braids on Braids
When humidity strikes, braids will be our strands' saving grace. To create this gorgeous and quick style:

1. Start with straight hair. For a bit more texture and volume, spritz some dry shampoo (try Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo) at the roots and rub it in. Separate hair into two sections. One at the top of your head, the other at the bottom.
2.Braid the top section of hair, securing it with an elastic. Braid the bottom section of your hair, also securing it with a small elastic.
3. Take the bottom braid and wrap it into itself at the base of your head. Secure with bobby pins. Take the top braid, and wrap it around the bottom braid. Tucking the tail into the braids. Secure with bobby pins.
4. Secure the style with medium hold hairspray.

Khaleesi Pride
This next 'do is a style even Daenerys Targaryen would be jealous of. The best part? It takes less than five minutes to throw together (granted you're coming straight from the beach). To create the look:

1. As soon as you get out of the shower, towel dry your hair and mist it with salt spray. We like Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger Texturizing Sea Spray, $19.99.
2. Blow-dry your hair with a diffuser to bring out your natural waves. As you're drying, try to scrunch your hair to create more texture. (If you're not naturally wavy, curl hair starting at chin level with a 1-inch curling iron).
3. Now, make two small sections of hair at the front of your head. Taking one of the sections, begin to gently twist until you reach the end of the strand. Repeat the same step for the other section.
4.Bring the two together at the middle at the back of your head. Secure them together with a small, clear elastic. Pretty huh?
5. Continue steps three and four, continuing to grab sections from the front of your hair. Once you're satisfied with your swoon-worthy style, secure with an elastic, spritz some hairspray, and go break some hearts.

Braided Sock Bun
You know those blazing hot days where you want literally zero hair touching your neck or face? This style guarantees zero flyaways and space for a cool breeze to offer some relief. You'll need long hair and a sock or sock bun ring to create the ultra chic look:

1. Start with sleek, straightened strands (clean or second-day), and put hair into a ponytail in the middle of your head.
2. Wrap the sock ring around your ponytail at the elastic. Secure with bobby pins. Take your ponytail and separate into two sections -- one at the bottom, the other at the top.
3. Taking the top section of the ponytail, wrap hair around the top of the sock, covering it with hair and lightly pulling hair down around the sides. Secure the hair at the base of the sock with bobby pins. Repeat the same step for the bottom section of hair.
4. By now, you should look like an obnoxious flower from the back of your head with a covered bun and strands of hair falling around the sides. To transform into a neat bun: Take three strands of hair from the top flyaways, and begin to French braid -- grabbing strands from the falling hair around the bun. Braid until you reach the bottom of the bun.
5. Tuck the tail of the braid up and under the bun. Secure with a bobby pin and some flexible hold hairspray.

I'm crazy about summer, but my hair? Not so much. It stubbornly refuses to be anything besides a big, frizzy, hot mess. Plus, can we talk about the hair-to-heat ratio going on? Nobody needs a heavy mop of hair sitting on her neck in the sweltering heat. That's why low-maintenance summer hairstyles are an absolute necessity to keep our hair looking hot, and us feeling cool.

Here, our favorite summer hairstyles that'll get you through all your outdoor escapades (while looking adorable, might I add). Plus, they're quick, require no heat and will stay out of your sweaty (er, glowing) face -- no matter how high the mercury rises.
