You've mastered the cat eye, the smoky eye, all the classics, but there are still a few things you can do to make all those looks come out even better. First, no matter what eye look you're wearing, Stiles suggests applying a soft taupe color to your waterline. "It gives the eyes a sexy, sultry look without closing them up too much," she says. You can also apply a little blush on your eyelids before shadow, says Stern, to give your eye area a subtle glow and add some natural-looking color.
And if you're working on a smoky eye, Crooks recommends keeping one brush completely clean to use only for blending. "When you're applying your shadow, you want to move the brush back and forth like a windshield wiper," she says. "Then, once the color is on, use the clean brush to blend up and out, the opposite direction from before. That gives an airbrushed look to the eye, so you can't see where one shade starts and the other ends."

Get a glow people will believe in
Bronzer under your cheekbones and across your forehead and chin can help you fake a day at the beach, but if you miss your nose, mouth, and ears it's a tell-tale sign you're faking, says Crooks. "Make sure you go across the nose with bronzer, because the sun hits you there," she says. "Some people forget their mouth area and it'll be white, which is a dead giveaway. And the ears too shouldn't be white, it's not natural-looking."

Don't skip the final touches
It really is the little things that can up the ante on your look, so make sure to take a few final steps before stepping away from the mirror. "My favorite 'finishing touch' is applying highlighting powder to the top of the cheekbones, which changes the plane of light on the face," Barnes says. Stern also suggests adding a spot of highlighter to the tip of your nose and in your cupid's bow for an extra glow.
And finally, when everything is done and you've set your look with powder, Stiles suggests putting a tiny bit of light moisturizer on your hands, rubbing them together, and pressing your palms lightly on your cheeks. "This will bring life back to the face if it feels dull and flat," she says.
