Between work, kids, chores, and more work, it's hard to imagine when you might possibly have a few minutes to spare for yourself. But, if you don't sneak even 20 minutes of "me time" into each day -- whether early in the a.m. before the family is up or midday at the office -- you're not going to feel your best. Nor will you look your best. So, pencil in a 20-minute break each day and adopt one (if not more) of these mind- and body-boosting treats courtesy of Kathy Zia, Director of Spa Operations at ONE the Spa in Santa Monica, Calif.

Breathe
Something as simple as breathing can stop road rage, eliminate negative thoughts, prevent you from losing your temper, and so much more. Now you just have to think about using your breath as a tool. Zia recommends taking a very deep breath and holding it for a few seconds before slowly exhaling for as long as you can. "This will calm your mind and body, and you will become more present," she says. If you want to add a little beauty-boosting bonus to your deep breathing, spritz your face with a hydrating (and fabulous-smelling) mist to refresh and revitalize your skin before you take your deep breaths.

Stretch it out
Even if you don't have time to sneak away and take a full yoga class, you can still reap the benefits of yoga at home in a few quick minutes. Invest in a yoga DVD that has various shorter classes on it (try Shiva Rea Daily Energy Vinyasa Flow Yoga, $19.99, which contains seven 20 minute routines). This way, you'll be able to sneak in a few downward dogs to help clear your head and energize your body without a major commitment. "It calms your mind, body, and soul," says Zia.

Soak it up
Turn your bathroom into a spa. It'll make tedious chores like cleansing, shaving, etc. so much more enjoyable -- you may even shed some stress in the process. Start by lighting a candle (Zia says to go for an ocean-like scent to feel refreshed, or a Moroccan rose scent for relaxation). Sprinkle some dried flower petals in your bath and hop in. Once you're bathing, swap the basic soap you usually use with a creamy, luxurious body wash that will cleanse and hydrate skin (try Dove VisibleCare Renewing Crme Body Wash, $8.29). "Its all about the experience, taking the time to enjoy simple pleasures," says Zia.

Fuel your body
When you're too busy to eat a real meal or you choose to load up on fast food or those inevitable office treats, you probably feel lethargic, irritable, and generally blah. So take just a few minutes to start your day off right by whipping up a smoothie. "I love to put all different types of fruit in a blender. My favorites are berries, mangos, apples, pears, kiwis and bananas," says Zia. Blend it up and drink it down. It "gives me plenty of energy, and lots and lots of vitamin C," she adds.
