To avoid makeup meltdown when the heat is on and the sweat is high during intense interviews, Dedivanovic shares these tips:
Tip 1: Apply your eyeshadow before your under eye concealer. This way, if your shadow falls as you apply it, you can clean it up before covering that area with concealer. Dedivanovic swears this trick goes a long way in making you look sophisticated.
Tip 2: Prevent eyeliner or anything else from running down your face by setting your concealer with translucent powder, using a damp makeup sponge. Dip the sponge in powder and press on and around your eyes, making sure to get close to the lower lash line. This will prevent any oily or wet makeup from running. Also, when you've finished your makeup, lightly mist your face with rose water (try Dream Organics Organic Rose Water, $12). It smells great and will help set your makeup and make skin glow.
Tip 3: Avoid these makeup don'ts to keep yourself from looking trashy: Save any glittery products for the weekend and skip bright pink or red lipsticks and glosses. And please avoid Dedivanovic's biggest pet peeve (he promises to thank you later) -- foundation that doesn't match your skin. "If you're not going to blend face makeup, you might as well just wear a mask," he says.
Tip 4: If you're really worried about your makeup sliding off during your interview, apply a primer before your makeup and keep blotting papers (like Tatcha Blotting Papers, $12) in your purse to soak up any shine immediately before your meeting.

Pay attention to details
Now that you know what to wear, how to accessorize and how to do your hair and makeup, don't overlook the details:
Fragrance: Forego your Chanel No. 5 or any heavy fragrance. You want to bowl them over with your skill set, NOT your perfume. Wear a clean-scented body wash and a strong deodorant and forgo a true perfume altogether. This will keep you smelling fresh, but won't distract from your professional demeanor.
Hands: Make sure your hands and nails are well groomed. Most people talk with their hands, so chipped polish or a color (other than sheer pink), will be distracting to your interviewer and make you appear lazy or disheveled. Watch this quickie three-minute manicure how-to to keep your hands looking fab and hand shake-worthy.
Lastly, when you look put-together and qualified, you tend to act the same way. Exude confidence and go get 'em.
By now, everyone's pretty aware that the job market is b-l-e-a-k. You don't have to turn on CNN to know that new positions are hard to come by, and companies are downsizing left and right. Therefore it should come as no surprise that searching for work is more competitive than ever with a ton of talented people vying for the same jobs. Because of this unfortunate fact, word on the (Wall) street is that employers are so inundated with highly qualified applicants, that they look for the tiniest slip-ups to make the process of elimination easier. Yikes.
If you've been hitting the proverbial pavement looking for a job because you've been laid-off, want to jumpstart your career, find a new career path or have decided to head back into the workforce after baby number two, you're not alone. And because of how "not alone" you are in your job search, just getting an interview is hard enough. For that reason, it's imperative that on the big day, you not only have the right chops for your desired profession (that's all on you btw), you also need to look like the best candidate for the job. That's where we come in.
We believe that beauty products (especially makeup) were put on this earth to help us all look fab. (It's amazing how the right makeup and hairstyle can give you immediate confidence.) Plus, there's no doubt that the way we look dictates how people perceive us. Remember the old saying, "you never get a second chance to make a first impression"? Well nothing could be truer of the interview process, which is why now is the time to up your game so that potential employers have no excuse not to hire you. One makeup shade too bright and it could be "thanks, but no thanks."
To find out what looks can help and hinder your chances of landing your dream job (or even that basic job to pay the bills), we went to the experts: Dr. Lois Frankel, author of "Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office," Jerami Brown from the Paul Labrecque Salon in New York City and celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic. They explain how to do your hair, makeup and more for any interview. With their expert tips you won't be counted out because of your makeup or hairstyle choices.
