Since she first stepped into the music scene last year, Lady Gaga took the music industry by storm. At this year's MTV Video Music Awards, this diva stole the show (as expected) by changing her outfit three times until finally ending up in a dress made out of meat with a matching hat and purse (yes, it was real meat, her hairstylist actually had to bobby pin that slab to her head). Gaga never fails to top her previous outrageous act. Whether it's wearing heel-less platforms or flipping off fans at a baseball game, Gaga is the 2010 icon to go down in the books.
Get her look: Whatever outfit you choose for this costume, Gaga's basic makeup look is to get her large eyes, which she digitally enhanced in her "Bad Romance" music video. Jennings says to first line your waterline with a white pencil like MAC Eye Kohl Pencil in Fascinating, $14.50. Use a white shimmery eye shadow to rim your lower lash line, focusing on the corners. Then use a brown gel liner like Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Espresso Ink, $21 to line the bottom of your lash line, letting it gradually disappear into the whites at the corner.
You definitely want to use false lashes with this look. Jennings suggests gluing three strips of false lashes together the night before. Then, attach them all at once to your top eyelid. Use a demi strip on the bottom as well. For your wig, get a long gray wig and slightly curl the edges. Part the hair in the middle and attach some crazy headpiece to your head (your pick).

Joan Jett from "The Runaways"
Known as the Queen of Rock and Roll during her heyday, Joan Jett was the rock icon of the 80s. Even in the 21st century, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts' hit single "I Love Rock 'N' Roll" is a ready-made mantra for any football game or movie theme song.
Get the look: You will need a spunky black pixie wig and a red jumpsuit for this look. The key to this makeup look is Joan's rocker eye. Apply smoldering gray eye pencil thickly to your water line. Then, Jennings says to "squint really hard to get a lived-in organic shape." Layer the pencil with metallic gray or black eye shadow to make it last. One key is to make sure to clean any excess shadow under the eye with a Q-tip and makeup remover to avoid having a "ghoulish" look. Apply layers of mascara to the top and bottom lashes. Then apply a taupe/desert sand colored eye shadow to the lids. Over draw the lips with a brown lip pencil, filling them in. Finish off with a gold/nude lip gloss like MAC Dazzleglass Lip Gloss in Moth to Flame, $18.
In her prime, Joan was a thin girl and had a hallowed face, so Jennings says to contour your face with a fluffy angled brush. Any matte bronzer with no shimmer will do. Suck in your cheeks, then swipe the brush right underneath your cheekbones. Then swipe alongside your nose and under your chin to give more definition.

Lindsay Lohan
With the never-ending releases of her nude magazine covers, her court trial airing on TV, and, of course, the dramatic coverage of her exodus into jail and rehab, Lohan's substance abuse has made her the buzz topic of 2010 -- a fabulous choice for your Halloween costume. If you're not totally sick of her yet.
Get her look: Jennings says Lindsay always has dewy skin in her paparazzi shots, so you want to use a highlighter on your cheeks and nose. He warns to avoid the forehead so as to not look shiny in pictures. For Lindsay's glam makeup look, you want to emulate a softer version of Gaga's eye makeup. Wear lots of mascara on both top and bottom and just one set of false lashes. Then wear a nude lipstick before going over it with a pink lip gloss like Urban Decay Pocket Rocket Lip Gloss, $19 for extra sparkle. For final touches, wear a long blonde wig, paint "F*** U" on your nails, then hold a set of prison bars over your face all night long.

Queen of Hearts from "Alice in Wonderland"
"OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!" is a frightening thing to hear when it's your head in question. Thank goodness the Queen of Hearts only exists in the fairytale world of Wonderland. The Queen's top-heavy head is the focal point of this costume. "This is an amazing look," says Jennings.
Get the look: You want to prep your face with a light moisturizer so that you have a smooth base for the white paint. For this look, her eyebrows are uncomfortably high and are pretty much in the middle of her forehead. To redraw these brows, you must erase your own. With clear eyebrow mascara, go over your brow hair in an "up and out" direction and pat it down, says Jennings. Then with a taupe-colored eye pencil lightly pencil in where your new eyebrows will go. Then with the pencil, draw a line connecting the new brows to your eyes, creating a rectangular shape. With white face paint, cover your entire face with the paint, stippling as you go. Make sure to carefully apply the white paint in the direction of your brow so that you don't mess them up, covering them completely. Also steer clear of the rectangular space you've penciled. Then, with a bright powder blue paint, fill in the space. This way, the blue's pigment is as clear as possible.
With black liquid eyeliner, draw in the high-arched eyebrows of the Queen, and then dot a beauty mark right underneath the left eye. Using the same liner, line both your top and bottom lash lines, then add false lashes to both top and bottom lids. Finally, draw in your heart-shaped lips with a cherry red lip pencil. Then color it in with a matching red lipstick like Maybelline New York Color Sensational Lipcolor in Red Revival, $7.50. Finish the look with a red wig and you're ready to go behead someone -- an ex, maybe?

Paris Hilton
This year, Paris was sued by a hair extension company for wearing the wrong hair extensions, then got arrested for toting cocaine in her Chanel bag. Our tribute to Paris' cocaine/Chanel purse drama: Turn her into a Halloween costume.
Get her look: For Paris Hilton, you really want to focus on the lips. Line your lips with a lip pencil, then color them in with a pinky lipstick before layering it with gloss. "Whenever you look at Paris, she always looks pinky," Jennings says, "so you want to focus on the pink tones in your lips and also your cheeks." For your eye shadow, use a taupe nude color like MAC Pigment in Melon, $19.50. Mascara and false lashes will finish the look. Add a blonde wig and carry around a bedazzled cell phone.
There are certain go-to Halloween makeup and costume ideas that we like to call "no fails." They are the tried and true, albeit boring, costumes you can throw together in a flash. These said Halloween costumes usually come out of a pre-packaged bag and contain fairy wings, a witch hat, kitty ears, or fangs and never win you any "Best Costume" awards.
