Some people daydream about winning the lottery or taking an around-the-world trip. We fantasize about having healthy, full-bodied hair that bounces when we walk. So when a product comes out that promises to turn our stringy, ho-hum hair into wind machine-ready, volumized goodness, we're first in line to try it. Nioxin DiaMax with HTX, $50, was no exception. But this time we weren't the only guinea pigs. We also had TotalBeauty.com readers test the product and share their thoughts. Ready to see if this miracle in a bottle really works?

Verdict No. 1: More Oomph and Body
Women who have baby fine hair say it "looks 10 times thicker than ever before" after using Nioxin DiaMax with HTX. Due to the caffeine in the formula, which helps speed up hair growth and production, women saw a thicker hairline, especially when putting their hair in an updo, as well as in "places where the hair was thinning from being pulled too tight." One woman says, "I noticed the sides of my hair were fuller when I pulled my hair back," and was delighted to "not see any scalp" when brushing her hair. Others say their hair "felt soft to the touch and thick -- like [they] had a lot of it" after using the product. One of our tester's husband "commented on how full my hair looks" and how it's now "bouncy and full of body."

Verdict No. 2: Healthier, Stronger Hair
Reviewers find that individual strands are "definitely stronger" after each use. This is likely due to the panthenol in the formula, which is known for its ability to penetrate into the cortex of the hair strand, helping to strengthen and moisturize from within. One woman says, "I'm optimistic that Nioxin DiaMax will reduce the amount of breakage and hair loss I've been experiencing for the past few years, because there are a lot less hairs in my brush."

Verdict No. 3: Less Frizz
One reviewer says it's "great for someone who struggles with flyaways," while another says, "where else can you get a thickening treatment that controls frizz?!" How does it work this kind of anti-frizz magic? One of the ingredients in Nioxin DiaMax is dimethicone, a protective polymer used in both skin and hair care, which helps improve moisture retention and forms a protective silicone barrier on each strand of hair. This silicone barrier prevents hair from soaking up moisture in the air, which is one cause of frizz.

Verdict No. 4: Longer-Lasting Blowouts
Reviewers noticed more manageable hair after using Nioxin DiaMax. "This product makes brushing much easier and styling look more precise," says one woman, while another says hairstyles "stay in place much longer," which allows her to blow dry less often. A woman with curly hair says, "This Nioxin treatment creates a smoother, more defined curl, while adding the volume and bounce I need."
