Huffman's gown was a delicious color and was encrusted with loads of bling. So she would have done much better to wear a less busy hairstyle and more subtle makeup. Thankfully, she skipped wearing a necklace, but the lovely earrings get lost in the mix.

Patricia Heaton -- Best
America's favorite stay-at-home-mom turns out to be one very stylish Hollywood star. Heaton made her glamorous, elaborate earrings the focus of her look, pairing them with a simple-chic, halterneck, white gown. She completed the look with neutral makeup and simple easy styling of her medium-length hair.

Mariska Hargitay -- Best
Her Emmy-winning year, Hargitay wowed us with a poppy-colored gown that really showed off her tawny satiny skin. She went all the way by skipping earrings and a necklace, letting her hair flow in easy sexy waves. It takes great confidence to go this simple, and that's why it works.

Debra Messing -- Worst
Frankly, a lot of celebrities would have done quite well to have worn this look. But for Debra, we set the bar a little higher. The muted colors of this gown washed her out, making what should have been a sexy neckline look rather sad. We love her long hair flowing hair and elegant earrings, but they couldn't save a look overwhelmed by a bad color choice.
The Emmys hit the small screen on September 20. Until then, celebrity junkies can feed their need with this look back at the best, and a few of the worst, Emmy winner looks in recent memory.
