Happy couple Ari and Tara bought their friend Jamee a gift certificate to a spa for her birthday. Months later, Ari bought a gift certificate to the spa for his partner Tara. When Tara called to book a treatment, she was told there was no gift certificate on file for her. Tara stated that her partner bought the gift for her and the spa replied, "Well, he has purchased gift certificates here, but for another woman." Tara then remembered that she and Ari had purchased a gift for their friend and replied, "Oh, yes. We bought a gift certificate for Jamee so that must be the other woman." The receptionist on the phone responded by saying that Jamee was only one of the women he bought gift certificates for, and that there were others. The woman led Tara to believe her boyfriend was cheating on her, so Tara hung up and called Ari in tears. Shocked at what he heard, Ari called the spa to sort out the situation. He soon realized that the name the spa had on file was for a Dara, not a Tara. It was a horrible typo that the spa would not own up to. After the emotional trauma, Ari requested a refund for the gift certificate as they were treated so poorly. The devil of a manager refused.

Massage Mishap
When freelance stylist Ann was in New York City on business, she decided to get some much needed stress relief with a 50-minute massage. When the time was up, the masseuse left the room, leaving Ann very confused and unbalanced. The masseuse had massaged only the right side of Ann's body. Ann told the manager what happened and the spa didn't believe her or offer any consolation.

Petty Pedicures
Taneka, a TotalBeauty.com reader, has been the victim of a nail salon that is run more like a factory than a beauty retreat. In order to earn the most money, the nail technicians rush through the pedicures because more customers equates to more tips. As a result, Taneka's cuticles were cut too deeply and she bled. Mangled cuticles do not sit well with a fresh paint job.
