The look: Glam waves
Step 1: Apply smoothing spray (try Graham Webb Stick Straight Smoothing Spray, $16) over your top layer of hair (avoid roots if hair is fine) and mousse (try Aussie Opposites Attract Styling Mousse, $3.99) to the ends of hair.
Step 2: Smooth hair by blow-drying it with a round brush.
Step 3: Hold a curling iron diagonally and wrap sections of hair around the iron. Release after a couple seconds.
Step 4: Very lightly brush out hair and apply a shine serum and hairspray to finish.

The look: Un-done voluminous bun
Step 1: Distribute mousse (try Aussie Opposites Attract Styling Mousse, $3.99) through hair and roughly dry the back of hair (just wave the blow-dryer through hair and use your hands, not a brush).
Step 2: Use a round brush to smooth top section of hair while blow-drying. When hair is dry and still warm, wrap top section in Velcro rollers, from hairline to the crown.
Step 3: Twist hair back into a casual bun and secure with an elastic above the nape of the neck.
Step 4: Remove rollers from the top section of hair and lightly tease hair for volume.
Step 5: Spray with hairspray and use a flat, boar-bristle brush to smooth hair back. If that section of hair is long, tuck and pin it in place. Push side pieces behind ears.

The look: Messy side bun
Step 1: Distribute mousse or volumizing spray (try Frederic Fekkai Instant Volume Spray, $19.50, or Victoria's Secret So Sexy Volumizing Mousse, $9.50) through hair and rough dry (wave the blow-dryer through hair and use your hands, not a brush). Smooth ends with a round brush but keep the rest of your hair texturized.
Step 2: Using a curling iron, curl random sections of hair all over, keeping some straight.
Step 3: Make a deep side part and gather hair to one side (leave out a front section). Create a low pony and secure.
Step 4: Lightly twist and pin the ends of the pony around the elastic. Repeat until all the hair, except for a few loose strands, is pinned into a bun.
Step 5: Use your hands to gently loosen the bun and make it look messier. Spray with hairspray.
Step 6: Take the untouched front section and wrap it around a curling iron (holding the iron diagonally). Leave hair ends out of the iron for a more natural look. Lightly brush out curl and spritz with hairspray.
