The first words that come to mind might be "Victorian bird's nest," but toned down a bit, this disheveled French twist adds a little rock 'n' roll to an otherwise classic look. Prep hair with thickening lotion (we like Samy Get Thick Thickening and Styling Lotion 06, $5.99) and give hair a rough blow-dry using fingers. Tease for height at the crown and gather the rest of hair into a loose French twist, being careful not to hide the tease or take body away. Secure with bobby pins, leaving a few strands loose around the sides and at the nape of neck. Set with hairspray and voila! (Distribute conditioner through hair when taking this style down to avoid damage from teasing.) -- Charli, Associate Editor

This chic braided look has us "ooh"-ing. Start by creating a deep side part and gathering hair into a low ponytail. Smooth strong hold gel (we like Pantene Pro-V Classic Total Control Gel, $4.99) over the front of hair for an ultra-sleek finish. Then divide the pony into two sections and braid each section, securing the ends. Fold the braids and pin horizontally into a long barrette shape at the base of your hairline. Use hairspray (like Redken Quick Dry 18 Instant Finishing Spray, $13), to keep it all in place. -- Sarah, Assistant Editor

Bold edgy makeup is fun -- not to wear, but to look at. Even so, this dramatic yellow and crimson combo is too much. Even the models look less than desirable in yellow smoky eyes. A thin line of yellow eye pencil might work in real life, but full-blown canary eyes -- especially paired with red lips -- shouldn't be tried at home. -- Kristen, Senior Editor

The only thing worse than sickly red eyes is pairing them with a goth lip. Though the pinkish red is sparingly used in the corners of the eyes, the overall look is just a bit too close to the designer's "Japanese horror flick" vision for comfort. -- Charli, Associate Editor

This pale-faced goth look with a powder pink lip looks great on the models, but for us normal people, it would result in a barrage of, "Are you OK? You look so pale!" comments all day. Warm up the look by putting a bit of color on cheeks. -- Sarah, Assistant Editor
