Meet Lynn, a 52-year-old film and theater director. She admits to a lifetime of struggling with her unruly curls, which are now rapidly losing their youthful volume and brunette hue. "I'm at the point where my hair is mostly gray and it's starting to thin," she says. "I don't know what to do with my hair."

Enter our makeover team. We asked Luke O'Connor, Suave Professionals celebrity stylist and co-owner of Lukaro Salon in Beverly Hills, Calif. and makeup artist Sabrina Mae to inject a bit of Lynn's fresh, cheerful vibe into her look. See her transformation now.

'I want a creative, free-flowing look!'
"I feel free-spirited and young-at-heart," says Lynn. "I want to retain that fun, energetic effect in my hair but I don't know how." Luckily, O'Connor has some easy tricks to give her dull curls a more youthful vibe.

The cut
"We're going to give her a simple cut that will fit her face and let her curls take their natural shape," says O'Connor. After washing Lynn's hair with Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Color Care Lower Sulfate Shampoo, $3.49, and Conditioner, $3.49, O'Connor gives Lynn's curls a trim.

The style
O'Connor gives Lynn a quick brown color gloss treatment to make her roots uniform with her ends. Next, he runs a bit of Suave Professionals Captivating Curls Cream Mousse, $3.49, to define her curls. O'Connor flips her hair upside down and uses a blow dryer with a diffuser to add a bit of lift from underneath. He also applies a 1-inch curling iron to 1/4-inch sections of hair in different directions for soft loose curls -- but only where the hair needs extra definition.

The makeup
When it comes to her makeup, Lynn's biggest complaint is that foundation usually makes her pale skin look even more washed out. To fix this, Mae warms up her cheeks with a dash of peach powder blush. Then, she focuses on highlighting Lynn's brightest feature: her blue eyes. To make Lynn's eyes pop, Mae creates a brown smoky eye that's still natural enough to wear every day. She uses a matte cream shadow on the lid and a matte brown shadow in the crease. Finally, to add a bit of bronze shimmer to the look she applies MAC Eye Shadow in Sumptuous Dive, $15, along the upper and lower lashlines and finishes with a thin dash of brown eyeliner.
