Age 50 might not seem like the ideal time for major life changes, but for Marguerite, it's perfect. She's originally from Seattle, but moved out to Los Angeles after her daughter left home for college. "I've been a single mom since she was born, but now that she's in college I can explore what I want to do," she says. "I'm playing in the sandbox again."

And what better way to start Marguerite's new adventure than with a new look? So we brought in our makeover dream team: Luke O'Connor, Suave Professionals® celebrity stylist and co-owner of Lukaro Salon in Beverly Hills, Calif. and makeup artist Sabrina Mae. Together they gave Marguerite a totally new hairstyle and look to fit in with her new locale.

'Please, fix my mistakes!'
Marguerite admits that her hair needs a lot of help. "It's a mess," she says. "I cut my bangs myself, and my highlights look awful." She says she'd love a more defined hairstyle -- and some better bangs.

The color
Marguerite's highlights were in pretty bad shape, so O'Connor gave her a color wash of golden blonde around her hairline to lighten up her face. "I'm so glad," Marguerite says. "My highlights really needed fixing."

The cut
O'Connor agrees that Marguerite's ends are "frazzled." He opts to give her a classic, clean cut with long layers. "The soft layers will give her more movement around her face, and we'll reposition her bangs so they'll blend into the ones she cut."

The style
With her damaged ends gone and bangs fixed, O'Connor is ready to style her fine, wavy hair. He starts with Suave Professionals Volumizing Root Boost Spray, $3.49, to add volume. Then he uses Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Smooth & Shine Serum, $3.49, to tame frizz on her ends. After blow drying Marguerite's hair, O'Connor uses a technique called French lacing to pump up her volume. To try it, grab a section of hair at your crown and use a boar bristle brush to brush hair toward the roots, then roll the brush out toward the ends. It's a gentler method than traditional teasing, but still gives you great results.
