Meet Pamela, a 34-year-old with the hair of a 17-year-old high school student. She admits that she's stuck with her one-length, long hair for years and it's become a crutch. "It's so easy to hide behind long hair, but I think I'm ready to come out from behind my hair and show myself to the world," she says.
To help her transition from teen to grownup, we introduced Pamela to Luke O'Connor, celebrity stylist and co-owner of Lukaro Salon in Beverly Hills, Calif. and makeup artist Sabrina Mae. They teamed up to give Pamela a sophisticated look that still felt like "her." See Pamela's transformation now.

Why Pamela is ready for a change
Pamela admits there's another reason she wants to change up her hair. "People think long hair is versatile, but it really isn't," she says. "I always just put it in a ponytail. My hair isn't doing anything for me." Luckily, O'Connor has some ideas to give her fine, curly hair some major versatility.

The cut
O'Connor isn't playing it safe with Pamela's cut. "This length isn't doing anything for her, so I'm going to cut off about eight inches and give her a choppy, layered lob [long bob]," O'Connor says. He starts by prepping her hair with Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Color Care Lower Sulfate Shampoo, $3.49, and Conditioner, $3.49. Then it's time to chop.

The style
Now that Pamela has her new long bob, O'Connor preps her wet hair with Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Smooth & Shine Serum, $3.49. Then he uses a natural boar bristle round brush to blow dry her hair straight. Once her hair is dry, O'Connor brushes through each section with a round brush and flips out the ends. He also dries her bangs out to the side for more volume.

The makeup
After hearing that Pamela's idea of glam makeup is "eyeliner and that's it," Mae decides to teach her how to spice things up and take her casual day look to night, while still looking natural. "She has pretty eyes so I'll help her draw attention to them with some eyeshadow," Mae says. "She'll look refreshed but with all her features enhanced."
Mae applies Make Up For Ever HD Foundation, $39, then uses a matte taupe eyeshadow on her lids, black eyeliner along her top lashline, and mascara. She finishes with light peach lipstick, pink blush on the apples of Pamela's cheeks, and a little bronzer underneath.
