When it comes to makeovers, typically dramatic changes come from drastic cuts. But stylist Luke O'Connor says you don't always have to sacrifice length for drama, which makes Sophia very happy.

Sophia says it's time for a change -- but not a huge one. To give her the update she's looking for, we called in O'Connor, Suave Professionals celebrity stylist and co-owner of Lukaro Salon in Beverly Hills, Calif., and makeup artist Sabrina Mae. See her transformation now.

'Make my long hair chic'
While Sophia wants a change, she doesn't want to go too short and O'Connor agrees. "Sophia has beautiful, long, thick hair and I don't want to get rid of that," he says. "Instead I'm just going to cut her length a bit to make it more manageable. Then I want to give her a blunt fringe. I have a vision and she's going to look striking."

The cut
O'Connor cuts a couple inches off her ends to clean them up, then he creates long layers in the front so that her face isn't lost in her hair. He then sections off the center front hair for the bangs. Sophia seems hesitant but O'Connor assures her she is going to look fantastic one last time before cutting straight across for a blunt fringe that ends right at her eyes.

The style
After a final trim of Sophia's bangs, O'Connor blow dries her hair with a round brush. Once he's done blow drying, O'Connor finishes Sophia's hair with Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion Smooth and Shine Serum, $3.

The makeup
To go with the simple, yet striking haircut, Mae decides to keep Sophia's makeup simple as well with a taupe-colored eyeshadow from the upper lashline to the crease. Then she takes a dark brown eyeshadow and lines her upper and lower lashlines. Mae applies shimmery champagne-colored eyeshadow to Sophia's inner corners to make her eyes pop. She applies a light wash of peachy colored blush to the apples of Sophia's cheeks and for the final touch: a bright raspberry colored lip stain. Mae uses Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Anime, $14.
